On the six axle models with the brass three-hole pickup on the outside pins of the axle...do I ever need to put a drop of lube on the axle end pin between this pickup and the gear housing, or is that overdoing it? I have many locos. Some sit for a year+ before being rotated into trains.
Thanks.
I place a tiny drop of CRC 2-26 using a needlepoint applicator bottle. I was fortunate to get a supply of 2-26 in a pump spray bottle, not the more common aerosol, and I decant it into a 1 oz. applicator bottle.

An electrical engineer gave me a sample of D Series Deoxit and after reading about all the wonderful things it is capable of, I have been using it, instead.
Can't say I notice much difference but the Deoxit D-100 is $1. per mL so it HAS to be good!

Where either one of these lube/contact enhancers shine is at the axle points of Walthers passenger cars. I also use them sparingly at the motor shaft bearings.
This is what works for me.

I also use the CRC 2-26 on Kato, and Genesis models, along with the Proto. I use a very fine tip paint brush.
