Nope. Not Proto 2000. Examining the coupler, and the hint that the manufacturer also made this HO car in a "three-rail" HO version, might make it easier to guess the manufacturer.

Boy, the only 3 rail HO I know of is Marklin, and I don't think it's a Marklin car.  At first I misread the 3 rail part, and was going to guess MTH, but then I reread your hint, and seen 3 rail HO.

Don't know.

Mike, I'm going to call you the winner on this one-- Marklin made the three-rail HO version of this car from the same tooling at the same time.

The version I have was sold as a two-rail HO car under the Trix name, and Marklin and Trix are under the same corporate umbrella.

Your turn!

Wow, who knew!  Like I've said before, even a blind squirel finds a nut once in a while.

I honestly didn't know Marklin or Trix, made "American" looking cars, but, then again, I have to look up Trix, and see what they are about.  Heard of the name, Trix, just don't know anything about them.

I have a car I'll have to dig out, and take pictures, but if anyone following this wants to jump in line, go ahead!

The made whole US prototype train sets, actually. And don't forget the Trix Big Boy, maybe the first one with sound? It was a really old Loksound decoder. They made a few other US locos as well.
