Michael,

Nice video of an impressiv loco!

A few bits of information on the loco - the Deutsche Bundesbahn class 10 (BR is Baureihe, in English class) was the last new steam loco design in West Germany. They were meant to replace the pre-war Pacifics, which were pretty much worn out after the many years of neglect during the war. Only 2 were built, one oil-fired and one coal-fired version. Both proved to be good performers, exceeding expectations, but Deutsche Bundesbahn cancelled the order for more locos in favor of the class V 200 Diesels.

Both locos saw only about 10 years of service, while one was scrapped, one was preserved and there are rumors that she will be restored into operating condition.

I am particular fond of this steamer, as my FIL had been on the team constructing it at Krupp Locomotive Works.
