Cody,

Here are a few other airbrushing tips from a clinic at my local club last month:

Always cut a new edge for your tape - do not rely on the existing edge to be sharp or straight.

Reduce the stickiness of regular tape by sticking it to and removing it from a smooth surface (like a piece of thick glass) a couple of times. Just before you pull it off for the last time, cut a new edge (see above).

To prevent bleeds under the tape, mask your model, and then put another coat of the first colour (or a non-colour, like Dullcoat) over the seam. This will seal the tape and prevent the new colour going under.

Don't use more than you need too - if the rest of the model has to be covered to prevent overspray, use tape on the edge, but cover the rest with a few layers of papertowel. This avoids damage to the rest of the paint.

Wait until the first coat is really really dry before doing the masking. It may take a few days to paint your models, but the wait is worth it.

Andrew

PS - The painters tape in Canada is green for some reason... [;)]
