Brasstrains.com Season 2
Posted by BigDaddy on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 8:31 PM

Season 2 has started.

I am really impressed with these guys production standards, even though I don't think I wll ever be a brass collector.  (sssshhh don't tell Howard) But I can appreciate it.

EDIT Just started listening to it and they are talking about Japan after WW2 and the start of their production of brass.

Henry,

Howard actually follows this site, but when you and others learn what brass models are really about.....then the bug might bite you. Dan and crew are doing a terrific job not only with his Monday morning express bit, but with Brass Expo, and his business dealings in general which are A+ and then some. He alone possibly could redfine brass models as it was two decades ago. He has learned much about this industry and he is certainly passing it on.

When I re-started Brass Expo in 2015 after its quite succesful run from 1995 to 2002, there was no one else on the planet other than Dan Glasure I would have sold it to and the same when I sold my Piermont Division brass company aka Brasstrains.com. Most brass guys today are pretty much like me......cantakerous old critters who grew up with steam locos. Dan is exposing brass models to not only millenials, but to just about everyone in the hobby and beyond.

Come over anytime and we can again play choo choo.

Have watched the first two episodes of MME and am looking forward to episode 3. Dan and Roland asked their viewers to take a survey after season 1 for what they wanted to see more of and followed their suggestions.  Season 2 is shaping up to be outstanding!

I watched the entire first season of MME with some interest and the 1st episode of the 2nd season last week.  It's heavy into west coast models (UP, SP, NP - at least so far) and that just doesn't appeal to me; nor the collecting aspect of brass ownership.  Perhaps when they get into some projects (which they stated they redesigned the studio for), maybe I'll tune in again.

Howard, I'll call Logan and see if he can come too.

Yeah I was a week late and didn't realize this was the second episode.  I don't have any feel at all for the brass business but given the rehab of their studio, it must be at least slightly profitable.

In S-2 E-1 Union Terminal Imports got their start wanting certain models that no one wanted to produce.  They were taught how to import and started their own line.

I have less interest in UP than in brass trains, but their video (separate from the weekly vids) on the Big Boy model by Glacier Park, was impressive.  What did they say 18 lights, some of them bulbs?

I was unsuccessful in figuring out their website and what these things actually were selling for.  Anyone know?  If I were younger I might have bought one as an investment.

Henry,

IIRC, it was somewhere in the $3,500-$4,000 range.  And it looks like the new Tsunamis are not much better than the older ones in regards to motor-control. Sad
