Ulrich Model Kits
Posted by Run Eight on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 10:09 AM

Question to readers....

Recently have sent e-mails to Commercial Sclae Models, located at 155 Amaral Street, East Providence, Rhode Island 02915.

This is the firm, which owns the tooling for the former Ulrich Line of Truck Kits (Don't know about the Freight Car Kits), which a guy in Colorado was not to successful in bringing back to market.

Commercial Scale Models web-site for Ulrich is www:sales@ulrichmodelkits.com.

Comes back to me failed to deliever.

Anyone else, has had the same problem?

I'm amazed someone would publish their cellphone on the internet.  Given they would do this, I suspect this is not their primary source of income.

Or to put it another way, they are not sitting around looking at their computer inbox every minute or maybe even every day.  You might have to be patient.

Website no longer exists so I guess this business has now closed down.

It was confusing.  There was an Ulrich Models which made electronics for model trains and they closed around 2016.

The old Ulrich line of trucks (tractor trailers that is) as well as freight cars and such was purchased by Walthers and they reissued the stuff (together with Silver Streak/Pacific HO) until they got out of domestic manufacture.

I don't know if there was another Ulrich for the trucks in addition; if it made the trucks, it must have purchased the tooling from Walthers.

I recently purchased several old Ulrich truck kits in mint condition. They are beautiful kits.

.

If you can find them, they are worth puchasing.

Recently I've noticed a few eBay sellers offering "Ulrich" model trucks that were never in the original line. Ulrich only offered 2 and 3 axle Mack Cabovers and Kenworth tractors, along with various trailers, plus the Kenworth dump truck.

I think a lot of sellers do not know what they have, so they do a search, and then just make a similar listing for their wares.

.

I see "Fine Scale Miniatures" used a lot for items that are not even wood craftsmen structure kits.
