America's Hobby Center: out of business?
Posted by caboose63 on Sunday, September 3, 2017 11:06 PM

Does anyone know if New York City based America's Hobby Center is out of business? For decades i saw their advertisement in magazines like Model Railroader and Railroad Model Craftsman, b ut never got the chance to buy from them.

I do remember the owner died and I think a son opened it in North Bergen, Nj.

Try an Internet search for the place.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.

I typed in their website address last night, and it said America's Hobby Center website domain has been sold. I think the business is totally closed down now.

I did a Google search and it comes up in North Bergen, Nj and Google says permanently closed on the map location.

Was this the same firm, which took out a 2 page ad, in the very first pages of MR back during the 1970's and early 1980's?

Am I correct?

Do others remember Sal Mareno's, I think in Jersey?

Yep, that's the one... Sal Marino, or SMC was in Staten Island...
