Repair service needed...
Posted by marksrailroad on Thursday, August 17, 2017 6:26 PM

I have a friend that has an HO Athearn Big Boy that needs minor repair and I was wondering if someone out there might be able to recommend a good repair service. I think all that's wrong with the engine is that the screws have come out on both sides that hold the side rods in place. Thanks in advance.

In the Denver area, I'm told the train store, Caboose (successor to Caboose Hobbies) has a repair service.  I don't have any experience with them.

I'm told that channel RFD advertises a repair service at the end of their train shows once in a while. Has anyone seen this?...

I remember James Wright talking employing someone who did some custom work.  i cannot find the Youtube video, but didn't do an exhaustive search.  He hangs out in the Atlas Rescue forum so you might just try to contact him there and ask

When the local hobby shop was common, most offered repair services, many even did custom painting. If there is a local club or LHS, they might be able to recommend someone. You might check with Athearn to see if they have an authorized repair station nearby.
