Sounds like a lot of people around here need some cheering up. It's almost the weekend, so let's have a cookout.
That looks good! Now we need some side dishes.
That'll do. Somebody break out the drinks!
Now crank up the tunes and let's party!
EDIT: Since it's the top of the page, looks like it's all on me. Dig in!

angelob6660LION- I miss you. Also is there any flying monks? (points if where I got that idea from).
Well, it is like this. There *IS* an airport on our property. Grass runway, and few markers and a wind sock. And, oh yes, insurance.
We have no plane, but the sisters convent is closer to the airport than we are, there are on the same section. (add jokes about flying nuns here.)
Reason for airport, is called "Richardton Airport", is that since Richardton has its own airport it is exempt from the county airport tax. neener neener.
Fr. Odo is airport manager. Gets all FAA notices. A plane landes nce or twice a year. Nor fixed base, nor fuel. If you need AvGas, you will have call a tank truck in from Dickinson anyway.
Before you land, buz the runway once or twice to moove the cows off (when they are in that field.)
[Besides... apparating is much faster.]

Morning diners,
Thanks for the BBQ lunch Steven.
LION- I live close to the airport also 2 miles. When the jets take off to the skies and land you really hear it. Airplanes approaching to land not a sound.
When traveling do you go to conferences and wine tasting? Just in case they discontinue they brand. Right?
Ulrich- Just feel better. It doesn't stay too long.

Good morning. I also live close to an airport - Hanscom Field. It's actually a pretty busy general aviation airport. I still hear the planes but I'm not under any of the approaches, which is good because a lot of the traffic is corporate jets. RWY 11/29 is fully instrumented. We've had a couple of commercial airlines over the years, but none right now.

Dang, Steve, that looks good. I may have to rethink my weekend eating plans.
I am now an official piano tuner--I just completed my first paid service. I may not be fast, but I am thorough. This one even included a pitch raise. I already have some additional clients lined up. This just may work out.

Good morning from the cooler West Coast.
Got the wife set up at the dog show yesterday. Both yesterday and today there will be acres of RVs rolling into the show. More than half will be from the U.S. and a lot make the journey up from Mexico as well.
It is a big stop on the show circuit. It is better than any RV show you could attend and they all like to show off their bells and whistles. I get quite a kick out of the one upmanship that goes on. I am not in that league so I just sit back and enjoy watching the showing off. Some of these guys really need a gym in their RVs instead of the super built in barbecues and bars.
Speaking of pigging out, the ladies put an incredible spread on last night for dinner for about twenty of us. One of them went to the fishing docks in Steveston on the way to the show and picked up an assortment of Prawns, Salmon, Cod, Clams, Oysters and other things. For those of you that watch the TV show "Once Upon A Time", Steveston is known as Storybrook in that show. They said the town was filled with tourist on a locations tour. It's not the quiet little fishing community it use to be, however, the money the tourist bring in is filling their pockets so they are happy.
Got #1 son out the door this morning after two 19 hour days and have to take my Daughter to the barn for her riding lessons as the wife is at the dog show. I will go down for happy hour and the barbecue only if I get my time on the bike in. It will be an extra half hour of hard pedaling to pay for my overindulgence last night.
YGW, the border must be respected and you must go through immigration/customs to cross it, even if you are a citizen of that country. It is a serious offense that will land you in jail if you don't.
Speaking of airports and airplanes, at a small local airport there is a small museum and the people that keep it going have been building replica WW1 planes and shipping them to Europe for a movie being filmed over there. Of course, they do their test flights over my house and it is quite something to watch as the Red Barron takes on Snoopy once again.

I'm falling behind reading your comments, and I hope to catch up soon.
Below is a photo of work in progress with my brdge project. I'm working under and behind the steel trestle in the right half of the photo. Now all of the plaster is rock color, and much of it will have ground cover and maybe some trees on it. I have much more to do. I'm still deciding about what to do with the foreground to the right of the photo.

EVERYWHERE LOST; WE HUSTLE OUR CABOOSE FOR YOU
Worked on my model railroad database almost all day with short breaks to help my husky Luna walk after her TPLO surgery on Monday. So far, so good. Going to be a rough two weeks ahead as my wife leaves for Calgary this weekend to look after our grandchild.
Our beagle had to go to the vet yesterday as well - never rains, it pours!
Speaking of rain, charging up my video cameras as I may have a chance to go storm chasing this evening if my wife gets home soon. Nova Scotia is expected to have severe risks of thunderstorms, small hail, and even a rare tornato risk.
Finally, picked up two more broken trains from the hobby shop this morning. Lots of good parts to be had. DJ
Afternoon folks!
Chloe, I could use a nice tyall glasss of lemonade for the moment, please.
DJ, Hope that the beagle is OK and good to hear Luna is recovering nicely. My son and granddaughters stopped over late morning today, just as I was getting ready to get in the shower. They had just come from the vet..... Thier 14 year old beagle had to be put to sleep this morning. Old Peetey has been going down hill for some time now and would no longer take his pills, had no appetite and was having trouble walking. Doc figured he probablyt had a tumor someplace as he was also losing weight quite quickly. Last time I saw him a couple weeks back I was thinking the end was near for him. He was a sweet old boy! The girls were upset about it...... They have a young Shih Tzu who is adorable so I told them to make sure he gets some extra attention.
I done spent $6,262.20 this afternoon. Yep, got a new pair of hearing aids! Already these are far better than the old set. I have an appointment in two weeks to go back for any adjustments I might want. Already have listed 3 things I want to have set different. The best thing with these is that when I use the T-cell on the phone it connects both ears! That will be a huge improvement in my being able to talk on the phone!
May actually spend a few minutes in the train room this afternoon. Have some minor painting to do on the curved girder bridge...
Catch you all later!

howmus: Sorry to hear about Old Peetey. Same happened to our first beagle Gus. Still affects me when I am asked to play the song Mr. Bojangles at the pubs ... and after 20 years he still grieves ...
I like chasing storms with video cameras because I can get some nice frame captures like this one at Cape Blomidon, Nova Scotia at high tide on the Bay of Fundy.
Good evening. ... where is everybody ?
DJ. That is a very good photo. Apparently, Luna has a long recovery ahead. Hope she does okay .
Ray .. Sorry to hear about Peetie. It is nevertheless pleasant to lose a pet.
One of our two air conditioner units stopped cooling. The remaining unit is struggoing to keep up . High temperature today was in the high 90's and the low will be 80. The AC service guy will work on it tomorrow. Meanwhile, the main level of the house is in the low 80's at the moment.
The lower level where my train room is located is not as hot. Working on trains is a good idea.
Evening Diners!
Flo, Inch, Ed, Brent, Jan and I will have a Crown Royal with a chaser.
Work was hot and slooooow so that is covered.
Wife had me PO big time before I went to work! I was sitting in the Train Room / Garage when she came out and said she wanted me to buy her a Bigger A/C unit. Told her I wish I could but I did not have the $ to spare. She said "there must be someway to rasie the extra money You Are Being Selfish"! Last thing I am is selfish! I took her brother in 3 times, bought him a car, supported for 40 years when she could have worked!
She thinks I sould sell my model trains, and but a Central A/C unit! That will never happen! If some offred to give a Free Central Air Unit with free install I would say No! Reason is we only use about 65% of the house and she spends 90% of her time in the bedroom. Eats in the bedroom, watches the TV in the bedroom, talks on the phone in the bedroom but she will make the whole house 70 dergrees so the bedroom will be cool! When she killed the central air unit electric bill went from $350 to $400 range to $175 to $225 when it was hot!
Gary What photo hosting sit are you using? You photos look great! Well so does your layout!
YGW Being a cold war baby one of my toys when I was around 5 or so was a gas mask from civil defence. It was expried so it became a toy for me. Then came the Army, so I had a gas mask, snorkeled so I wore a mask, rode motorcycles and wore a full face helemet and then there was the 20 years in Auto Body and Paint! So yes, wearing a mask / CPAP is something that feels normal.
Wish Good Luck for all of your Pup's!

DER I didn't do much with the layout this last winter, but I do have a loop, yard, turntable, two roundhouses, and a caboose track in. I plan to get more done this next winter as I shouldn't have the projects like I did this last one.

Hello to Ken and Duke.
Ken. I just started doing photos with Flickr. I installed a Flickr app in my smart phone. the latest picture with the bridge project was an iPhone picture I took that went directly into Flickr without the computer.
Duke ... I still want to see what you are doing with your layout some day. Unfortunately trips to Michigan over last couple of years are too busy.

This is Saturday, July 22nd, 2017.
The location is 53° 16′ 57.36″ N, 9° 42′ 44.64″ E
And here is the weather report:
Chance of rain: 100%
Hours of sunshine: 0
Wind: SW, 10 knots
My mood: very low!
Summer decided to emigrate to a friendlier country this year, but I am stuck here!
Ulrich .... Since we have no control over weather, we must not allow it to bother us. Be happy with what you have.
My beagle started wimpering 9 o'clock last night and finally at 1 am we took him to the Pet ER. Dogs can get their stomachs twisted and that can be fatal if not treated early. That was not the diagnosis though, it turns out he probaby ruptured a disc in his back.
We are supposed to confine him, which is no problem because he doesn't want to move. He doesn't want to drink either so I can see that peeing is going to be a problem. Being part coonhound, he is 50 pounds so he is not easy to lift nor can he go up and down the 3 stairs to go outside without hollaring.
They gave him 3 different meds, neurontin, codiene and a muscle relaxant but it has not made any visible difference in his pain.

Well, all I can say is that we have plenty of weather in my neck of the woods these days. In fact, we´ve got so much of it, it drips down from the sky.
My shoulder is giving me a real problem now. I can hardly move my arm, without shocks of pain being sent through my body. That does not at all help to lift my spirits.
I´d better be awol for a while!
Ulrich. We like you but want you to be happy.
Good Afternoon,
Henry, so sorry to hear about your dog. Is there anything that can be done for him? As a medical man I'm sure you know far more than any of us about such an ailment.
Ulrich, it is raining here this afternoon and it doesn't make one feel very cheerful. I sure hope it stops otherwise the plan to BBQ some chicken Greek style is out the window. We usually BBQ quite a bit but this year I have only fired up the grill a couple of times.
Think I'll make myself a cup of tea and head downstairs to run a train.
CN Charlie
Chloe I'll have a piece of that fresh baked mixed Berry pie over there on the counter. Put a dolup of whipped cream on it too....

It seems there is an air of sadness here in the forum today. Don't Worry! I will share a little song I used to sing to my Middle Schoolers when they were feeling blue.... Be Happy!

Actually have spent a few minutes today working on the SLOW, I have. Haven't accomplish a whole lot but I have done a few odds and ends...
It is dull and grey outside here in the Finger Lakes today. Be lucky if the Solar Panels kick out even 10 kWh today... This is not going to be a record breaking month like it was last year.... I drove over to the Menonite Farm Market earlier and..... As promised the sweet corn is now in!!! I shall have a couple ears tonight followed by more of the fresh berry pie!!! Yum!
So far the new hearing aids are great! Much better understanding of speech and song now. Hope it lasts! Other than it being too loud at the moment the hearing in both ears when I am on the phone is awesome!!! Only used it once but (they will reset the volume in a couple weeks - in the meantime I just have to manually reduce it)......

Ray .... Thanks. "Don't Worry. Be Happy." ... That is a classic song. .... I wish I could send you some of our sunshine. It has been excessively hot here.
Ulrich ... I wonder if you are okay. I only wish you happiness.
Henry ... That sounds like a painful problem for you beagle. I hope he can recover.
CN Charlie ... I hope the BBQ is a good one.
Hello Folks—

Evening Dinners
Flo, Inch, Ed, Brent and Jan will have a Crown Royal. My self? I will have a tub of ice to sit in and a please.
This sums up my day.
I was cooking today, at work and now that I am home!
Work Front Store was 80 degrees plus and I was on fire, well in a good way. Had a $4300.00 day in sales and made a extra $248.00 in Spiff Money! Was not that busy but had the right folks come in.
Home As Robin Willams said It is Dam Hot! It is now 8:19 and still 93 outside! Was 103 around 4:00 PM. Last time I looked it was 88 degres in the house. Finally got the wife to shut the bedroom door so it is not bad in her bedroom, maybe 78 or so.
Even the Garage / Train Room is warm! Just had to add more ice to the beer cooler. Way cooler than the house, might bring my mattress out to the garage tonight.
Gary Your Flicker Photos look better than other Flicker Photos I seen. Not in the quality but there is no border or links to your other photos you have up loaded.
Henery Best wishes for your pup.
Ray I hate that song! While it is catchie, it makes me want to hit someone?
Rose Bush Question. Last year I posted that after my Son In Law knocked down the sole remaining steam it stared to grow back. Then my mistake I nuked it with weed killer because, well I could not see it untill it was to late.
It did not died and it is now around 4.5 feet tall. Soil is very rocky, OK more like rock with a little soil I added when I planted it 10 years ago. Been using rose food once a week for the last 6 to 8 weeks. Been giving it a gallon of water for the last week or so daily. Not a sign of a rose bud anywhere? Any tip's? Not a clue to what kind of a rose bush, but it had yellow roses.
See you all later.
