Interior and lIghting kits for passenger cars
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, December 14, 2004 12:20 PM
Does anyone know how to mount and interior kit and a lighting kit for HO scale IHC passenger cars? Do I glue the light to the top of the car, where can I place the electrical board so that it is out of the way?
I have both the lighting kits and interior kits, but the directions do not five any help in mounting the hardware for the lighting kit.
Thanks

Hi,
I've bought IHC passenger cars and the interior lighting kit that IHC sells. If that's what you bought, you should have received instructions that show how the "light" bar mounts between the two vertical brass rods which are to be attached to the trucks. If you don't have the IHC light kits, then I can't help you.

If you need to discuss further, I'd be glad to answer your emails or if you email me, I'd be glad to give you my phone number so I can really give you specifics. I've light many cars, including using Athearn light kits, so I can probably help you.

The lighing kits are Rivarossi. The are supposedly made to work with these cars. They have the metal wheels for the trucks, and light bar with no directions or obvious means to mount it, and a small (1/4" wide X 1 1/2" long) circuit board, also with no directions on how or where to mount it.

I would appreciate and help or suggestions that you can give. This is my first attempt at this and I was surprised by the lack of instructions included with the kits.

What do y'all think about quality of these cars? I am looking at a set of streamlined IHC's right now. Are they pretty good detail and pretty smoothe rolling? I want high quality, but they're kind of hard to find in Rock Island paint.

Thanks,
Greg

I really like the cars. I bought them to make a complete N&W set to go with my Bachmann Spectrum Class J. They have good detail, and roll easily. The only problem that I have is that the instructions for the interior kits and lighting kits are lacking information on installing the kits and how to mount the lighing hardware.
