Are you a PAGE ONE person ?
Posted by eastcoast on Saturday, December 11, 2004 12:34 PM
[?]Do you ever find that you are a page one person ? I do.
Sometimes, I am in a pinch for time when I am on the forum
that I never get past the first page.
Then other times I will not read NOR reply to a topic unless
the topic header is interesting or specific. YOU ?[:p]

Guilty! Unless I'm doing a search on a specific topic, I often don't read much beyond the first page. One can't spend all day on the forum, it wouldn't leave enough time to play with trains!

I only check out the first page, don't have the interest nor the patience to wade through the old posts. I figure I've already seen them anyway.

I am a "one day" person. I review the topics of the "day", check out those I am curious about, and respond to a few. My time on the computer is limited, and I too prefer to "play with my trains"!!

Depends on how much time I have. Until my recent retirement, I was definitely a page 0 person. Faithful MR subscriber for over 40 years and an IT professional for more than 30 but never had time to even log on to this forum until recently.

Now I'm either a page 2 or a day 2 person (unless I'm looking for something specific).

I'll go to page 5 to see if i missed something. But sometimes page 1 has some responses that came out of the archives and i do skip those.
Being old is when you didn't loose it, it's that you just can't remember where you put it.

Absolutely.First I eliminate every non train related topics then the all the topics not pertinent to the information I'm looking for.I have limited time for this so I read posts that will help me at the stage of modelling I'm at now(planning, building and setup),as the rest will come up later.

I also feel that there's not much more to learn beyond the first page as questions are generally responded with great accuracy in the first few replies, thanks to the high level of knowledge of many members of this forum.

I am now. I must admit when I first logged on I would read almost everything and respond to what I knew or what the poster was looking for. Now I find subjects that used to be page 1 on Monday are page 2 on Tuesday. This forum moves rather quickly at times and I don't have time to see it all. Besides I still have that rewiring to do and it takes time for me because I dislike it so much. But yes, I now only look for what interests me and can help me build better and quicker.
Ain't it great!!!

Nope. I always check back 3 or 4 pages.

No way. I'd miss too much otherwise. 4 or 5 page minimum here.

No, I go to the second day back to be sure that I didn't miss something that I could help with. Reading only the first page is letting others decide what's important by meaning the most popular. Some of the best topics may not be the most popular... :-)

I'd have to say that anyone not checking through the first few pages every day is naive of how this forum works. It is often the case that an interesting thread initiated in the morning can end up well down page 2 before most forum members arrive home at dinner time and sign on that same evening, especially if a lot of "fluff" polls are being posted. In many cases someone will catch it, post, and bring the subject back to the front page, but certainly not always.

Nah. I always check out the first four or five pages, just to see if something happened while I was off the net working on the train. Amazing the threads that pop up while you're doing something else!

I always do at least the first TWO pages and if I have the time I may just go till there are no more new posts on any threads.

Most of the time I don't get past page 1. Occasionally I will read page 2 or once in a blue moon, page 3.

I read back to the last time I was here. This weekend is a good example. I was last in the forum on Friday night. Left town for the weeekend and didn't get back until a couple hours ago. A quick check shows I have about 5 pages of topics to cover.

I don't read every one but don't want to miss one where I have an interest or might be able to provide some information.

I often check back to see further responses to topics I have responded to or entered, or if it is a thread of interest. If I am researching something I may go waaaayyy back!

Hardly ever get past page 2. Usually I only have short amounts of time for reading the forums.

Sometimes, depends on work and if I'm off the next day or not. It is kinda fun however to go back some pages. Texans rock!!

Just think it could be worse.
