Does anybody else get "Spammed" from MR's customer services centre. I keep getting up to 2 or 3 emails a day with special offers on books DVD's etc and I am getting very sick of it.
If I go to the unsubscribe web page the only options appear to be to stop getting weekly newsletters from the magazine as well and I still want to keep getting these. How about an option to unsubscribe to special offers!!
Hi bsurf:
I'm not getting two or three 'spam' offers from MR every day, but I do get three or four every week. So far the quantity and frequency hasn't been too bothersome, but if I was getting as many as you are I would be contacting Kalmbach.
Surely, somewhere in the world there has to be one marketer who knows when enough is enough. I have yet to meet him/her!
Regards,
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
I sign up for their newsletter and other special announcements. I don't call that spam.I have my e-mail spam filter set pretty high and all I get is the newsletters I signed up for and personal non spam e-mails.

Looks like I opted out of all the newsletters when I signed up for MRVP in October. I was afraid if I checked the box, I would get signed up for the Kalmbach Astronomy newsletter/spam, which happened when I first joined up.
I had a difficult time convincing customer service that I could not unsubscribe from an Astronomy account I did not have and the link to unsubscribe in the emails had no option to unsubscribe from those newletters.

Most legitimate marketing companies have a link at the bottom of the email to unsubscribe.
Did you try that
A last resort is to mark it as spam and then future emails will go into the spam folder.

I've found the best way to combat those "spam" emails from Kalmbach is a special feature in most e-mail clients called the delete button.
Wow and just after I posted this, an offer from Kalmbach to save 60% off stocking suffers....hit the delete button, email no longer viewable.
I get too much Kalmbach stuff and it's a nuisance to have to keep deleting but thanks for the snarky suggestion. I'm worried if I unsubscribe I'll lose all emails but 1-2 every day is too many.
My MR account is on my wife's email, so I have no idea if she gets them or not. But I really dislike having to delete 15-20 emails a day from all sorts of stuff. Even my dentist bought a "keep in touch" software package. It reminds me two weeks ahead of a appointment, then again two days ahead, then a confirm the appointment the day before. After the appointment, I get a how was your recent experience with doctor tooth? I get invitations to download all manner of dental health material. Really? Floss often? Gosh, thanks. Oriental trading company, three or four a day.
LION gets such mail from MR, MicroMark, GreatCourses, Puritan, Sean Hanity, Trainworld and others that I subscribe to. I glance at them and then delete them. I just bought some trucks and busses from trainworld because I saw them on sale, had spare money on a gift card, and wanted them on my layout.
Mostly they get deleted.
We use AppRiver for out spam control (for the entire network). It is coustly, over $500./yr, but worth it just to keep all of that spam out of our Mail Server. It is very effective, and I only get about 5 request per week from our users to Whitelist a corespondant. Very Tolerable.
You can see whay we need a good anti-spam solution.

I do wonder just what they are thinking. I have subscribed to MR as a hard-copy magazine for decadeS. Do they really think that I want or need another offer to subscribe EVERY DAY? (Yes, I know that caps is like yelling.) I ran a check a couple weeks ago and had received 8 such messages in 7 days. If I have my subscription already paid up for another two years, why would I want all of this stuff?

I get the newsletter and about 5 or 6 email a week for MR products. I read the newsletter and delete everything else. It's been the same since I joined long long ago. It's nothing new. This time of year it gets worse.
