Good Afternoon Gang!

I spent quite some time making the first batch of shingles this afternoon. Now my hand is hurting like mad from making nearly 1,000 shingles! And that´s only 2/3 of what I will need to do the roof! I know you can be laser-cut roofing strips, but a) they are noit available in my neck of the woods, making them a little to dear for me, and b), doing it yourself is half the fun - even when the hands are hurting. I don´t even want to think about what it will be like putting all those shingles onto the roof - with a pair of tweezers ... [+o(]

Steve - I am far from being an expert or anywhere near perfect. This is my first scratchbuilt building, and there is a learning curve to it. Most important is to have a good scale drawing, the right tools and materials and a lot of patience. The materials I used are the ones I had on hand or were able to source locally. The frames were done in pine stripwood, which does not glue well or stain well. Use balsa instead! Easy to cut, glues well and stains nicely - but also breaks easily!

I like your layout - but there is room for some improvement. Most of your track is neatly line up with the walls or the edge of the layout - this will give it a somewhat artificial look. Try to picture your scenery and then let the track meander a little.

So far, we were spared from those thunderboomers heading our way. I guess they will hit us when it´s sleeping time ...

Stay safe!
