Where did the Western Pacific run to and from?Aslo,what years did it run?Did the Western Pacific run stream or diesel?I would like to model the Western Pacific too.I also model the Santa Fe.What Railroad company purchase the Western Pacific?Thank You very much.Your Railroad Friend Randel B.

WP ran from the bay area to Salt Lake City. In its early days it ran steam, but dieselized in the post war era. The WP was purchased by UP in the early 1980's.

In part, it was part of the California Zephr, that ran from Oakland to Salt Lake, then Rio Grande from Salt Lake to Denver, CB & Q, Denver to Chgo.

The WP used to run their diesel engines in "Pool Power" consists mixed along with the Burlington Northern's units. This was I believe in the late 1970's upto early 80's until the UP bought the WP, then that ended. I have a lot of older footage on some of my videos that show 4-axle WP engines (Either GP38 or GP40) in the black paint or the silver/orange WP paint schemes mixed with the BN engines. Just a note for your RR operations. Pete

Indeed they did, as Charles mentioned in earlier post..the California Zepher was a well known passenger run in its time. The last issue of the historical society news letter had quite a bit of info on cars used. Not interested in that area myself.
