Greetings all, Once again I'm starting the thread early. It is only because I have to work early Friday morning, and I wanted to get this started right. Anyway.... I finished up the first of two SD40-2 units for my Freelanced road 5018 and 5019. As you can see, 5018 is the older of the two and in need of a visit to the paint booth....the weathering was done by myself with powders.
When I get around to doing 5019, she will look like she had JUST gotten out of the paintbooth, and had new LED lights installed.
I also got my scaletrains.com 31K tanks in the mail today, and they have already broken in their first scale miles of service.... Check the thread I will post for details. L
Let's see some good stuff this week, and keep making this the best thread of the week.
(My Model Railroad, My Rules)
These are the opinions of an under 35 , from the east end of, and modeling, the same section of the Wheeling and Lake Erie railway. As well as a freelanced road (Austinville and Dynamite City railroad).
And just like last week, I will add my latest additions to my very small fleet of trucks. I found some magnuson resin truck kits at a local antique shop of all places. This was my first attempt at this style kit and I know the next ones will be done a little differently. The decals are brutal, but I got better as I went along. Rich
Just finished this little building this morning. I needed something to occupy myself for a few hours. It was a Bachmann kit but made it more presentable with some added detailing.

Life is what happens while you are making other plans!
Here's what I've gotten done so far this weekend - the scenery base on section 4 of my layout:

WOW Bear!
The car ferry is beautiful! I don't think I have seen a full side view before. The proportions are very well done and I can just see the smoke stacks belching and the trail of smoke downwind. Good job!!!
All the best!
Dave
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Very fine work, gentlemen.
Bear,
That ferry is stunning! What a work of art!
Not much accomplished here this week. I do have a pic I forgot from last week of my new Jordan Miniatures Erie steam shovel working the pit at Sheridan.
The rest is mostly from railfanning ops along the line this week. Been busy tying up loose ends as I prepare to graduate. Here's some double-headed steam crossing the Animas south of Silverton.
Later, we catch this train coming into Durango.

very fine work all, I agree that ferry is stunning.
Video from my club layout, the MFM in Three Rivers Quebec. This portion of the layout is called "Town" and about 90% of it done. The first part of this video is a cab view and the second is from the caboose. To be viewed in HD and full screen.

Good morning all:
Jimmy nice understated weathering on the SD40-2, as someone who does not like weathering your engine looks good!
Rich, nice fleet of trucks you are amassing on your layout.
Bob, that is a nice little kit, but if you have spare time I have some kits for you!
Danny you are making good progress on your layout.
Bear, since you have done such a fine job on that car ferry, you can send it to me as I have all the Wabash cars that will fit on it!
Mike, more superb pictures of your layout!
I managed to get some cars done this week:
Intermountain ART Reefer Kit, Painted with Scalecoat II Reefer Yellow, Boxcar Red and Black Paint, then lettered with Champ Decals. ART was owned by the Wabash and MP and would look right at home on Bear's car ferry.
Athearn ACF 2970CF Covered Hopper Kit, painted with Scalecoat II MofW Gray and lettered with Herald King Decals. The RI Covered Hoppers came with trough hatches rather than the circular hatches and were in sand service at Ottowa, IL.
Another view at a different location on the Strongsville, OH Club Layout of my U30B's hauling a mixed freight.
Thanks for looking!

A lot of good stuff already, but Bear... Your ferry is AMAZING!
as usual, nice DG stuff mike.
The cars look good, as do the trucks.
Allan, your scenery work is just as good as Pelle's, and I think he's one of the best right now.
I am really diggin' that car ferry. After a quick trip to my railroad library, I dug up an old paperback written about the car ferry system on the chesapeake before the bay bridge was built. A neat little railroad town called Cape Charles, Va. I was a frequent visitor to this town as a ute. I always enjoyed seeing the old train tracks and what was left of the yard there, and reading the rail/sea history of the town. I found another Mack truck kit at my favorite antique shop along with a shelf full of old athearn bb kits. If it keeps raining here, I be back at that store looking for something to do this weekend.
Jimmy...those SD's are looking good with those silver side frames.
Bob....Nice work on that Bachmann kit.
I have a feeling I'll be spending more time on the forums this weekend than in my garage.....dang weather

That is an impressive fleet!
You are an artist.

Greetings, Everyone!
Thanks again for kick-starting another fine WPF, Jimmy! Your diesel roster is really looking sharp!
There's so much to appreciate here I hope I can give a nod to everyone... Great Work as usual!
Those Magnuson trucks look sharp, Rich. I've tried to make a few and didn't have as good of results as you did.
I see lots of tiny details on your shed, Bob! Well done I like the muted paint finish.
TBDanny has a nice start to his Oregon On-30 modules.
And a big salute to Bear for that great car ferry. I got to ride across the Detroit River, on a private car no less— just me and the cook, from Detroit to Windsor back in 1973. Every time I see your model I'm reminded of that great experience! Good Stuff, Bear!
Sweet looking Jordan shovel, Mike. I wonder if the Jordan kits will continue to be made now after the passing of Jordan Jackson? I enjoy making those challenging kits.
Thanks for the video, Jack!
Nice work on the rolling stock, Rick. I sent you a PM a few weeks ago but I guess it got lost in the MR forum etherland. We will have to arrange to get together sometime. I'm in Chardon.
Always nice to see your scenes of the "Q" and G-N Garry Thanks! Brings back memories of riding the "Race Track" when I traveled from Chicago to Aurora and on to Galesburg back in the day.
I'll always have a soft spot for the New York Central, Allan! Looks great!
Outstanding fleet, Casey! I wish I had the skill, time and patience to complete such a beautiful stable of locomotives, especially ones as unique as the Reading's. I'd sure have loved to see those Camelbacks in action.
So, I've finished a few projects but don't have any photos of them to post yet. I finished painting and installing an Econami decoder in a little W&R New York Central U-3b 0-8-0, and does it ever run sweet! Maybe I'll get a chance to post a video of it soon.
I spent an hour or so watching the goings-on at Union Station and got a few moody shots of some activity while a big 'ol motor sat cooling her resistor grids...
I love that new Preiser electric baggage truck. That's what prompted me to take a few photos of it...
Somebody's happy to be home
This is right out of the package—needs a little "dusting-up".
Here's the engineer (motorman?) beginning his shift. He sure packs a big grip!
Thanks, Folks! On to more Good Stuff...
Ed
Jimmy, Thanks for rolling out the weekend photo fun and your SD40 too.
Bear, Awesome might be cliche, but that's what came to mind when viewing your vessel, looking forward to seeing her with a deck full of rolling stock.
Thanks to all and regards, Peter
Great work everyone! Another exciting week here. Today I offer a shot of an ex Rail box I am working on..

Allan and Ed ... Thanks for comments on my photos. .... I like Allan's NYC pictures and Ed's Union Station action.
Everybody .... Great photos this week.
Peter,
I love the "film noir" look you achieved in your alley scene! All you need is some steam escaping from a few manhole covers
Did you hand-paint individual bricks to get that variation? And the window A/C units, scratchbuilt?
The green-enameled panels contrasts perfectly with the Checker Marathon cab!
Night scenes have a whole different aura—beautiful work!
Nice work, everybody!

dti406Bear, since you have done such a fine job on that car ferry, you can send it to me as I have all the Wabash cars that will fit on it!
Ed, Isn't that Donald Trump in the third photo carrying his own suitcase?
Jimmy, thanks for the welcome if extravagant comment.
Spare toupees.

farrellaa Ed, Isn't that Donald Trump in the third photo carrying his own suitcase? -Bob
