<p>Chuck - good question, next question. I have been trying to find out, why this rather strange arrangement was adoped, but did not find an answer. All I know is, that this specfic loco was built by L. Corpet in France in the year 1886 for a quarry operation in Spain (Minas de Aller). I actually see no reason for this indirect drive, other than may be length.</p>
