Bachmann FA 2 Shell Removal
Posted by MikeFF on Sunday, November 8, 2015 12:32 PM

Would appreciate any help with removing the shell from a Sound Value FA 2.  I have removed the front coupler and attempted to lift the rear.  I can't get it to budge and want to get in there to push the headlight insert back into position.  I do not want to apply too much force.  Thanks.

From the Bachmann HO forum one said, you have to remove four screws from the oil tank. He said you have to lift the rear first and ease the front out.

Below is the loco diagram. Suspect there is a little tab that sticks into the shell.

Let us know what you find.

You will have to pry off the fuel tank, it is held on with doulble sided tape.

As turns out this was much simpler than I anticipated.  There is a screw in the fuel tank that you can ignore as all it does is hold on the fuel tank-no double sided tape. There are four screws flanking the fuel tank that I was afraid to deal because I thought they might hold the weight to the floor.  Throwing caution to the wind, I removed them and the front coupler.  With a bit of persuasion the shell came off.
