Wheels loose on axle - Atlas AEM7
Posted by Old.Professor on Saturday, July 4, 2015 1:36 PM

I discovered that both wheels on one axle of my Atlas AEM7 are loose. The wheels are attached to short metal axles that slip into the plastic "center axle" which includes a gear. I saw on previous posts that Super Glue doesn't have good shear strength and that Loctite red or blue are recommended. But when I looked at the Loctite web page, I saw that these products are for metal-to-metal bonds. What should I use?

Use the Loctite Red...or what is better....Zap-A-Gap Medium CA+, a little thicker than regular CA and still has capillary attraction, You have to be precise in positioning, it almost bonds instantly to some metal plastic combo's, let cure and it has shear strength. I use it a lot on many materials, including what You want.

Yeah, I agree, give Atlas a call and get a replacement axle/wheel.. Glueing the one you have will be iffy, you may introduce a wobble if you don't get it perfectly straight and true.
