MRC tech 6 and MTH --- need help
Posted by DAVID FORTNEY on Monday, June 29, 2015 11:25 PM

I'm using a MRC tech 6 to run my sound equipped locos from MTH and BLI. All the BLI respond as they should.

The MTH triplex sound does not start until I put it in DC then once the sound starts switch it over to the dual mode. i have to this every time I run the engine.

any suggestions?

There has to be a better way to get the sounds started.

Never had a Tech 6, but heard that it does both DC and DCC. However, I don't believe it has the capability to do DCS, which the MTH engine decoders use. MTH has supposedly worked on the DCS vs DCC coampatbility issue, but that is likely what's limiting what the Tech 6 can control except in DC.

Have you tried hitting F3 (starup/shutdown)?

A quote taken from the MRC Instruction manual. You'll notice that it states that it will control NMRA compatible equipment, MTH is not NMRA, guide lined. So, I don't know what to say, I don't have any experience with it....Hopefully someone does...if not, call MRC, is the only advice I could give.

''Thank you for purchasing this new Tech 6 Train Control System. This advanced train control system can control two types of locomotives; standard, analog D.C. locomotives and new sound-equipped locomotives that contain N.M.R.A. compatible sound or non-sound decoders. The new Tech 6 line of power packs will take you beyond the 21st Century of train control.''

why I did not think of that is beyond me but thank you for the reminder. The engine now works perfectly with my tech 6.

I bought mine around 3 years ago and I love it..

I especially love the DC start volt, momentum and braking adjustments it offers since its the same as the DCC CV settings I use..

Gotta love the T-6 for the skilled switching it offers if one makes the DC adjustments I mention..YeahThumbs Up

oh wow,I have a lot to learn about this thing. One negative so far is the wire terminal will not hold in the wires. Screws just turn and turn without tightening. Am I doing this right?

No your not, if your looking where you put the screws the wire goes in the top section, tighten the screw and your set.

May I suggest you  study the manuals? You might be surprise what the T-6 is capable of when it comes to DCC and DCC/Sound.
