So Athearn/Genesis is bringing out the SP&S version of the 4-6-6-4?

Hmmmm' wondering whether they may also give us the Great Northern version?

Go figure probably one of the few things I'd buy, but it's not coming in N scale.

This has to be good news for NP/GN/SP&S modelers in all scales.  The fact that it's HO shouldn't be a downer because it's obvious that Athearn has an interest in those roads of the Northwest.  If the HO version is successful, a future N scale version could possibly follow.

GHQ has (or had) a kit in their line to convert an N scale UP 4-6-6-4 to a Z-8.  They also have (or had) a kit to convert a Kato N scale USRA Mikado to a W-3.  All is not lost.

I'm hoping there is an N scale follow up, I have a GS4 with a plausible story. A 900 would be more than welcome(SP&S guys never called them Challengers, because of their south bank neighbors). They were the pride of the SP&S and the best paying locomotives.
