Does anybody have some suggestions to remove the numbers on a MTH engine, without having to repaint the engine? I've tried Micro Sol, without any luck and I don't want to ruin the paint on this engine, like I did on one of my Kato engines.

Thanks

Sometimes Solvaset (stronger than Micro Sol) will loosen lettering.  My best renumbering job used Floquil B&M locomotive blue to just brush paint over the factory numbers on a set of Athearn Blue Box Blue Birds.  The Floquil (RIP) matched the Athearn factory paint perfectly.  I just decaled over the painted over spots and it looks like factory.  Now that Testors killed off Floquil it might be harder to find a good color matching paint.
