Wisconsin Central only had F45's, not FP45's. ATSF and Milwaukee Road were the only owners of FP45's.

Great Northern, NP and BN had a few F45s (I think). B&O may have an F45 as well. But yes, ATSF was the only road to have FP45s.

Amtrak also had a few F45s. Your F45 model could easily be kitbashed into an Amtrak SDP40F as well.

The only purchaser's of the FP45 was the ATSF(9) and MILW(5). GN/BN bought a total of 46 F45's, ATSF also bought F45's(not sure of the total). WOSR(Wisconsin & Southern) purchased several ex BN F45's and later sold them(MRL ???). One of the ex ATSF FP45's did go to Wisconsin Central and was painted in their yellow/maroon scheme.
Here are the paint schemes:

ATSF 'War Bonnet' Passenger(red/silver, small lettering)
ATSF Frt yellow/blue
ATSF 'War Bonnet' Super Fleet(red/silver, large lettering)

Milwaukee Road 'Cities' passenger(UP style yellow/grey)
Milwaukee Road frt(orange/black)

Wisconsin Central(yellow/maroon) - WC Ltd also had several ex ATSF F45's

NYS&W and Nevada Northern had some ex BN F45's - IIRC. The Amtrak engines were not FP45's - they were basically a stretched SD40-2 with a cowl. They did not have the 20 cylinder engine that was in the FP45.

Jim you forgot the SPSF merger paint scheme that seven of the remain eight FP45s wore. Source The Santa Fe Diesel Volume Two by Dr. Cinthia Priest. There were also two blue and yellow freight schemes. The original with the Cigar Brand nose emblem and the Yellow Warbonnet. Both paint schemes were worn by the Santa Fe FP45s.

Santa Fe had 40 of the F45s and the last 20 of those had steam lines for use on passenger trains in combination with the FP45s.

The only difference between the FP45 and the F45 was that the FP45 had a steam generator (hence the P) for passenger service. Also the FP45s were 2 or 3 feet longer than F45s.

Also note that the MILW did NOT have dynamic brakes.

We have a unique model on NJTransit called a GP40FH-2, it has a normal cab and nose and full carbody. Some of the bodies are from F45s.

EL maroon is a ways of from WC maroon. Perhaps a picture of a WC F45 would help..............

Of course, to me, the prettiest FP45s are in the Silver, Yellow, Red Santa Fe "SuperFleet scheme! Just couldn't get any better!

Go to your search engine (mine is MSN) and type Santa Fe Superfleet FP45. Several website links with impressive photos and history will pop up.-----------enjoy the photos!

10-4!
