Mornin,,, an irish coffee please dear, as usual and some biscuits n gravy. Seeing a little sun for now. Clouding up with a chance of rain, winter mix, changing to light snow, before ending late tonight.

GARY BN,,, sorry to hear of your grandma’s passin. Our thoughts are with you and yours

Been busy with grandson’s B-ball the last 4 day, got 4 playing, 2 in Paris and 2 here. Wnt in for the 7’th grade game last, the boys played harder than before and won. Leroy is the shortest player, but slippery, lost track of how many balls he stole and scored 3 points. 2 others lost, and one’s season starts Fri.

Trains out back, well still slow, did have a CSX geometry train come through Mon, other than that nothing real exciting.

Other stuff, I seen a bobcat in the backyard with a rabbit in his mouth, then last week BIL found one hit by along the road bout a mile ur so from here. A nice big one and seemed to well fed. Another guy bout 7 mile NE got a couple pictures of 5 cats together, tom, she and 3 almost growed kittens, while he was in a deer stand huntin.

I best get on ta chores, thoughts for all those in need n hope ya’ll has a gooden

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe....  "Was I in here last night and did I spend a $20 bill?             Oh thank goodness, I thought I lost it!" (W. C. Fields)  I'll have a couple waffles with real NYS Maple Syrup this morning and some bacon along side with a pot of Dark Roast coffee to wake and warm me up this morning and help me celebrate my 68th. anniversary of the day I arrived on this forsaken planet.

Inch, rabbit or bobcat?  My late wife used to drive a Rabbit...  That was an honorary FORD (Found On Road Dead)  That was the last VW we ever owned.  Used to hear a bobcat screaming (screetching, calling) on occasion over in the "Big Woods" next to our farm from time to time when I was a kid.  We weren't allowed to go over in the neighbor's "Big Woods".  Of course you don't believe that stopped us did you?

Gloomy outside today here in the Finger Lakes Region of NYS.  Currently 33°F and dark outside.  Could getb 1 to 3 inches of partly cloudy as well.

Gary, very sorry to hear about you Grandmother.  May she rest in peace!  Keeping you and yours in my prayers...

Good morning!  Dark, cold, gloomy and raining, with a hint of snow in the forecast.  But, I'm not at work and I've got bacon.

I told the guys at hockey that this is a "rehearsal for retirement."  Normally, I have to get up at 6 AM to go to work, and I don't get home from hockey until after midnight, so I try to take a nap before the game.  This week, though, that wasn't necessary.  And, I had a good game, too.

Our daughter won't be coming home for Thanksgiving, due to the weather.  There will be snow on the roads between here and Maine.  Maine is nicer than any hospital or auto body shop I've ever been in, so she's making the right decision.  She will probably drop in over the weekend after the storm passes.  In the meantime, I hope to get some benchwork built down in the garage, so I can have it connected to the layout in the trainroom before I have to return to work.

There is snow on our roads too. There's 6 inches of snow here in about 6 hours. We did do some runnig around that neede to be done before it got too bad.

And the ATMOSPHERE  here at home {as long as we KEEP POWER ON} is nicer than any ER; and the decor, though humble and dated here, is better than 'hospital puke' on the walls, too.Smile, Wink & Grin

My father said he'd rather have us "safe at home and NO TURKEY DINNER, than NEVER TO have a turkey dinner from us {me} again"!Whistling

I believe the FIL will feel the same, although knowing him, he will pine away for the turkey dinner on the morrow! Even though he claims he "doesn't like turkey"...he gets miffed if we DON't offer him a piled-high plate of turkey dinner with all the fixin's!

Mr. B. Lets HOPE it nicely passes! It could "sit 'n'spin" on top of us! {I know...BITE my TOngue!}

~well, all, if the power goes out, I won't be able to get on {some will breathe a sigh of relief}.

Otherwise I will see you regularly inthe Aof M if not later!

 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer Please.

Sorry to hear about passing of loved ones or ill health. Seems my daughter maybe the next in line. She has a bone problem in her hand. She will have to have surgery and may have to take disability afterwards. I will get more details Thursday.

Work, talk about a wasted day! My one and only customer came in at 10.30, bought a $160.00 Futon Matt and was out of the store by 10:55. That was it for the day? Then the snow moved in, none was in the forecast that I heard. While really not that much it did cover the parking lot, my car and was pretty, I like snow.

 See you all Thanks Giving.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Gary- I’m sorry to hear of your Grandmothers passing. I’m sure she’s at peace now.

Got the pumpkin pie in the oven, now I must remove the sn*w from the sidewalk. Yes Sn*w. Got maybe an inch or so. Of course it wil be almost 50 by Saturday so I’m not gonna get overly ambitious about removal. Anywho, then I get the car out and set up Turkey fry central. We will eat about 2.Dinner

I will think of all the things I’m thankful for and among those many, many things, know that all my friends in the diner will be included.

Mornin' folks, and a very Happy Thanksgiving to all here in the US of A today!

Zoe, just a bowl of organic granola to start the day today.  Need to save room for the Turkey and all the trimmings.  What?  Oh, of course!  A cup of dark roast coffee is always mandatory for breakfast.

I am about to turn on the oven to bake the Butternut squash I prepared yesterday,  Oh! And Galaxy I hope you didn't forget the nutmeg for the squash......

I will be at my son's house for the day.  Feasting will begin a little after 1PM and will continue off and on untill we all decide to leave sometime after some Feetbowl thingie or other gets over on the Idiot Box.  I'm sure my car will be blocked in for a bit so I plan on making the best of it and will be one of the last to leave...  They will have a couple less people this year as DIL's Uncle and his wife will be at her side of the family for the day.

We got about 3" of fluffy white stuff overnight!  I will have to get out the scrapper and brush to clear the windows on the PiP, but will not be running the sn*wblower yet!  will shovel off a path on the porch and put down some salt so I don't fall and break the dish of squash on the way out to the PiP.

Have a great day and stay safe oput there!

Sir Madog

A rather dull day over here. Our Thanksgiving is only a faint memory any longer - it was on Oct. 5th. We don´t really celebrate that here.

Got nothing to do - I am bored!

Blessings!

Well, Ulrich, you should celebrate Thanksgiving!  I will be going to our traditional dinner, where everyone brings a dish or two to spread the effort around, we all participate in a carefully-choreographed kitchen ballet to get it all heated and cooked, and have a great time.  Holidays and festivals know no national borders.  We celebrate Oktoberfest and St. Patrick's Day, so why not?

Our snow was just a couple of inches, but it fell during the afternoon, which is traditionally one of the heaviest travel days of the year.  It's all done now, and part of my day will be shoveling snow.  Daughter Annie will be coming down from Maine after all.  She had been planning to come down yesterday, then go back and have Thanksgiving dinner with her boyfriend's family, but he's a lumberjack (he's OK) and got called out for storm cleanup.  She'll be here, that is, if she can get out of her own driveway.

Anyway, I've got a couple of side dishes to prepare, and a shovel to find.  The coffee is ready, so I'm off to face the day.

Good morning diners,

I walked with dog this morning. One of the few days that Murray can walk by himself and he exactly ran in the park with little to no traffic.

Another year of Thanksgiving and Christmas without other family members. Myself included I don't really like celebrating both of them because of the pain.

Well Happy Thanksgiving and be safe and careful during Black Friday door sales.

Mr. B. - you are right - why not? It´d be nice to have the family gather for such a day, but what family? We may not even see our son for Christmas this year.

Why do I feel old, sad and lonely all of a sudden?

 Afternoon Dinners

 Flo, Diet Dew Please.

All the food is done, all we are waiting on is my Daughter and her new Bow.

Bought a Rival Turkey Roaster and it fid a great job! Only took 2 hours to cook a14 pound turkey. It wil handel up to 20 pounds Turkeys. It was pretty cheap for what it did, only $25.00. Here is a link.

 http://www.walmart.com/ip/Oster-24-Pound-Turkey-Roaster-Oven-White/39082969

Train Front. Tested the N&W GP 20 I got from Vince. Nothing wrong with the motor, only pulled .33 Amps. Must have been the melted lighting harness that BBQ the 2 decoders.

On the Monon F3 B, I think I have a bad motor but not postive yet. When I started the test run it pulled 1.05 Amps, that is not good! The it started dropping, at one point it was down to .35 amps, but then jumped up to .70 amps, back down to .35 amps. Going to give it some run time and lube ad see if she straightens out. It sat for over a years, so I need to give it a good cleaning.

Afternoon guys

Happy Thanksgiving

Last night Home depot called me, so I have an interview Wensday. First place that's called me back. Looks like an outside job, loading stuff, carts, and lot cleaning. All outside, luckily I don't burn or tan...

Been working on some trains today while I wait for the infared turkey fryer to do it's thing. I added working strobes to both of my Kato F40PHs, redid the beacon on my lone SD7, and put a custom-built board and some work into the SD40-2 I got from ken so I have LEDs and a nice bright beacon.

I also found a box of DCC harnesses the other day. About 3 each of 8-pin plug to hardwire (I may have chopped off the other end), 8-pin to 9-pin, and 9 pin to hardwire. The later have came in handy since I started making my own boards to stick in Athearn locos.

Suprisingly my brother didn't come down from Ohio. He usually does, but I guess it wasn't in the cards this year. My sister's birthday was yesterday, my parents took her to some italian restaraunt I can't spell or pronounce right. I didn't go because I didn't want to go to her original choice.

Ken, That may have been a soldering burn on the harness of that loco. How are those Proto 1000 F3s that got Kato motors doing?

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Afternoon all,,, can I have a barley pop dear… Mothers been baken pies all day, will do turkey and hams tomorrow.

Hope everyone’s had a good turkey day so far. We do ours on Sat after, so been quiet here. Out of 6 kids, only 4 will make, 2 oldest girl would make it. Not even gonna have all the G-kids.

Did hear from the oldest Grandson over in Africa [not gonna say where] today for the first time since he left. Gov flow them over on civilian airlines, why nobody knows. G-son said they were treated like [in his words] crap, by the crews and others on boards and said US needed to keep their noses out of other peoples business even after they told’em why they were going. I best drop my thoughts that part. Don’t have any idea when we’ll hear more again.

Best get back at F-ball n trains. Thoughts for all in need n hope ya’ll has a gooden

Ken, That may have been a soldering burn on the harness of that loco. How are those Proto 1000 F3s that got Kato motors doing?

Vince one came in DOA, ate a decoder right from the start. Other one seems to be doing fine, but honestly I donot know which engine it is in?

Far as Shaky The N&W GP 20 the shrink tube that went to the rear LED is all cooked looking. It looked like it was in contact with the frame / weight. There where so burn marks in the white wire for the lights, but does not look like it was touching the weight.

What I think killed the decoders is the rear truck. When I finally opened the GP 20 the power wire to the rear truck had came off. So I thought that was the problem. Solder the wire back on and installed a diffrent decoder. It ate that decoder as well.

I think there is two possible problems.

1 Rear truck electrical contact bar is hitting the weight.

2 Needs a N Scale decoder. Less problems when ran with out the shell?

Meet my daughter new love, Shawn. Well he is going to be out of here fast! Laugh Reason is he likes me, that is death when it comes to her boyfriends!

Turns out he use to live close by and hung out at K-10 Model Trains and has bulit a few layouts. She brought him out to the garage before we ate, I never had a chances to power up the layout. After the fest, we tried to make it back out to the layout, no dice. Finally while she was in the bathroom we made it out. Soon as we did, they had to go!

He said he would get by again and bring his 15 year old son that is all so into trains. That was the nail that is I am sure nail the coffen shut! Soon as one of her boyfriends and I start to like each other, she dumps them!

 See you all later, Ken

Evenin' folks!

Welp!  I am still stuffed.  We had a major big feast out at my son's house.  Consisted of Turkey (done pefectly and very moist and tender), gravy, Mashed potatoes, Two kinds of stuffing/dressing (one of which was far, far better than the other.  That one was the old family recipe now made by my son), Baked Sweet potatoe casserole with marshmallows, Baked Winter Squash (which I provided), Cabbage salad with apples, fruit salad in whipped cream, green bean casserole, croissant rolls and butter, three kinds of pie with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream for dessert and three different Finger Lakes Wine with the meal.  Only ate one plate but had a little of everything and then vegged out for the rest of the day.  About 6PM I had another piece of pecan pie for supper and then headed home.  Will be going back out there tomorrow night for leftovers!

Ken, I have to laugh about your story about your daughter's boyfriend.  My FIL had 4 daughters.  I was the only Son In Law that he would even speak to and definately the only one who was allowed to go down cellar into his sanctified workspace.  When the others showed up he would just slink down to the workshop for a few hours until they left and lock all the doors in between!  Some of the best one liners I use today came from Barney my FIL.  He was the guy who introduced me to the wit and wisdom of W. C. Fields and got me back into model railroading!

The ground is white all around the area today, but there was enough solar heat to melt off the raods and keep them dry and passable.  I do like living here in the Finger Lakes Regoin of NYS!  You know you live in the Finger lakes when....

Just about time to give Blackie his evening pill for his Diabettes.  Catch you all later!

Thank you for the condolences gentlemen, I did something I hadn't done in a while(not counting the Puyallup train show) and that was just run a train. My Oma and Uncle bought my brother and I model trains for us to "play" with whenever we visited. I'd sit on the ground for hours watching my Chessie System GP40 chase it's train around the Oval.

Hopefully I can use my model trains help pullmyself back together and get the traction I need to get the layout I have planned going.

A day better spent inside - it´s quite cold and windy. I have postponed my idea to go to our home improvement store to buy the plywood I need. I just don´t want to risk getting sick again.

Myorder of the platform has arrived, at 50% MSRP a real bargain. It´s good that I bought it. I now have the correct dimensions to get the track spacing and the platform height right.

No real plans for the rest of the day. My December copy of MR has arrived, so it´ll be an afternoon spent on the sofa leafing through the mag and daydreaming a little.

Have a good one!

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, first off, put Barry's breakfast on my tab please, then I will have a short stack of buckwheat pancakes with real NYS Maple Syrup, bacon, and a couple eggs scrambled.  Oh, I will also require my Seneca Lake Blend Dark Roast coffee as well.

Currently 25°F outside but feels like 13° and the sun has been shining somewhat.  need to get out and clean off the solar panels.  If I get most of the white stuff off they will clear themselves fairly quickly.

I need to get some more materials together to send along to the editor for the Region.  Then I plan to spend the day hiding in the train room for a change...  I do need to call the Pharmacy and get more blood testing strips and lances....  This evening I will head back out to my son's house for a repeat of yesterday's feast.

Have a great day!  Later...

God Afternoon!

After a nice maccharoni & cheese lunch, I was planning to have a long nap, but Petra wanted me to help her put up the Christmas decoration. Our apartment is all set for the upcoming holiday, all presents are bought and the Christmas dinner is already in the freezer. The only thing missing is that holiday spirit, but we have 27 days for that to arrive ...

There has been only little improvement in my respiratory issues. I will see my doc about it on Monday - I am getting worried it might be something I´d rather don´t want to know about.

Janie, I´ll stay here at the RC, sipping on my mug of hot & sweet chocolate, waiting for the folks to drop by.
