True, German engineering has brought us some interesting products, like the computer, cars, planes (Otto Lilienthal, Gustav Weisskopf and Karl Jatho, who is said to be the first man in the air with a "real" plane - months before the Wright brothers), but it usually took American money and persistence to turn those inventions into a success.</p> <p>Unfortunately, Germans also have a record of inventing not so nice things, like cruise missiles (V 1), and other mechanisms meant for destruction.</p> <p>If there is one field where I´d say Germans are excelling, it´s arts. What would the world be without Bach, Beethoven, Haendel and Wagner? Note that I have not mentioned Mozart - he was Austrian. Certainly one of the biggest achievements of Austria in history is, that the world believes Beethoven was an Austrian and Hitler a German [(-D]</p>
