Frame sizes

Hello!

My first question is: Will a Athearn SD9 shell fit on an athearn SD40t-2 frame (Bluebox)? Hard one heh.

Second of all, is there a place on the vast internet where we all can find some chart or database about which frame will fit which shell, and fitting motor for all manufacturers? Is such a tool existing? Is someone connaisseur enough to try it? Could be nice to have that kind of database, no?

Thanks.

One of the first things you should do with Athearns, is to see how the shell is removed.  The older ones are removed by squeezing the the shell, these are attached by plastic tabs.  They will not work with the newer ones which are screwed on.  I would check the exploded view diagrams first.

You would have to buy many locos to do this. Or somehow get many to tear down their loco and make comparisons. Think about it.

Consider the cost for each company to post those specs. Programmers are not cheap.

Most people have no idea on what it cost to run a company.

Good subject for another discussion to waste time that could be used to work on the layout.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.

Not a hard one, an easy one: no, they're not the same length.

Also why would you even want to?
