You didn't mention Alcos, Baldwins or Fairbanks Morse. I like EMD F units and am also partial to GP-7s, and 9s. Also like Alco RS-1, 3 and 11s. I don't have any GEs and probably should.

What is G&E? The locomotive builder is GE as in General Electric. Does G&E stand for General AND Electric?

EMD by far!!!

Favorite models would be 1. F-units, and 2. SD70MAC's.

I am also partial to some Alco's and F-M's, but I don't roster any.

I'm dissappointed in EMD's latest styling on the SD70ACe, though.[:(]

Even though most of my fleet consists of EMD units, it's slowly being taken over by Alco's.
It may sound weird though, my favourite modern unit is GE's AC4400.
My fave Classic era unit is still the PA & the most units on my layout are SD40-2's

G&E??? EMD???
Those them new fangled eeternal combusting die-ease-els. Nope, ain't seeen or heerd em' sincin we dun hung tha' EMD feller frum da bridge at Blu Girt Swamp.....

Actually my answer is none of the above. I don't do diesels on the layout. I do own a few but they run only on the club layout. Three of the five are early ALCOS.

Boy, people here sure love the GE's, eh? (tee hee) I went EMD because I like them more asthetically. My altime favorite is the GP9, though it doesn't really fit my era and there are none on my layout. I do own one that I pull out and run for fun when no "real modelers" are looking.

I've got more ALCO's than anything else. I've got a UP FEF-3 4-8-4 and a UP 4-6-6-4 (on order). Then i've got a UP Baldwin 4-8-2, a UP Baldwin 0-6-0. The only diesel (for now) is an EMD [:D] SP SD7.

I can't believe no one mentioned ALCO or Baldwin Steamers!

As you refrain from acknowledging steam era locomotive builders as such, I can not cast a vote. Diesels are fine for those that like them, but steam was, is and forever will be KING (at least on my layout).

If I had to vote for a diseasal I would go for some of the early English Electric export units, particularly the double cab units that went to NZ.

I voted for other as we have different builders in QLD. My favorite model would be 1: 2800 Class 2: 4000 Class 3: 3100/3200 Class 4: SD70ACe ( I just love the new SD70ACe's, if you do not like them I respect your opinion so you should respect mine).
