Good Morning Gang! It´s going to be a nice day, sunny, but not too hot and humid. Poor Petra has a dentist´s appointment ... [:-^] Janie, just plain coffee for me, please. I started to dig into family history this morning, as I have nothing else to do. Unearthed a real treasure. <a href="http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/SirMadig/SpreewaldbildVati.jpg"><img src="http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv185/SirMadig/SpreewaldbildVati.jpg" alt=" " border="0" /></a> The lad in the middle of the boat of this 1938 photo is my dad, then aged 11. The gentleman sitting to his right is his grandfather. The old lady behind him (last one to the left) is my dad´s great grandmother, who was born in 1854. This is the one and only picture we have of her. Unbelievable that she is Christian´s great great great grandmother... The picture was taken south of Berlin, during a family trip on the occasion of her 84th birthday. When she was born, Germany had no "Kaiser", it did not even exist as a nation. In that year, the Crimean war started and Florence Nightingale founded an organization to help the wounded (not yet the Red Cross). In the US, the Republican Party was founded. In the same year, a chap named George Eastman was born (Kodak). Thrilling! Have a good one!
