BNSF, KCS, and Titleist golf?!?

I just got done looking at the BNSF and KCS company stores, and they have one heck of a lot of GOLFING items there! So I'm sure that CSX, UP, and NS have golfing stuff in their company stores too. What's with the railroads and golf? Do very many railroaders/model railroader even golf?

Or is it just that railroad company stores don't have anything better to sell, or that the company brass really does think that everyone enjoys that sport?[:p]

A lot of their customers probably play golf. Most big companies have logo'd golf balls (or logo'd golf towels, etc) available for give away trinkets by their sales people when they're entertaining clients.

I have a small collection of BN and BNSF as well as UP logo'd golf balls. By the way, they all happen to be Titleist.

Exactly. Especially since a vast majority of the people who are making alot of the decisions for their company's shipping (and other decisions) golf. Some do it seriously, some on occasion. But taking them out for a round is an excellent way to get a lot of friendly non-pressure-sales face time with a customer.

That brings another question, how many people have actually bought something from a railroad company store?

Why do you think Donald Trump builds all those golf courses? Because the people with the money and that make the decisions are into golf. That is also why TV falls all over itself to show golf events. The decision makers watch it.
I used to play a lot with my brother in law (he is in sales) and we met more executives on the course than I could count. We were part of a regular foursome with a Bank of America VP who would have other wheeler dealers in on weekends.
