Help for modelling the Maine Eastern

Hi, I'm modelling the Maine Eastern F40PHs #265 & #291, and I wanted to know what colors the Green and Orange in the paint scheme are? Would it be Harvest Gold and Pine Green by any strange coincidence[:D]? I also would like to know the size and print type of the "Maine Eastern", since I have been having a VERY difficult time[:(!] finding letter decals to match it. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated[:D]!! Thanks in advance for any info[bow].

I doubt anyone has come out with decals for the Maine Eastern FP40h's yet. If it helps, here's a link to a picture of the units. http://www.merail.com/mid-coast_service.htm. The green looks similar to MEC green and the gold striping could be Harvest Yellow, but then I came to Maine well after Gulford took over.

I won't hold my breath waiting for anyone to make a Maine Eastern decal set, ever[;)]! I just sent an e-mail to the Pres of the M&E RR to ask him these questions. Thanks for the link[:)]. I've been trying unsucessfully to get accurate measurements from those pictures, and the 30 or so photos I have taken myself[:(][sigh][sigh][sigh]

You might try to see if Pen Bay Decals will make you some custom decals. They make New England decals on an ALPS printer. I don't have their website in my bookmarks, but try the Eastern Maine Model Railroad Club's website as it has or used to have a link:

There's a bit of irony, there Bob. I joined the EMMRC late last spring. I think one of the members (can't remember his name) runs Pen-Bay. There's a meeting tonight, but since the wife and I are preparing for our trip back to CA for the winter, I won't be attending. Wi***his question had come up a week ago. I could have asked one of the other members when I went to the meeting.

OTOH, I could just email the one member whose email address I do have and see if he can get the information for mainecentral229. 'Course, it could turn out to be expensive since the major work is the artwork and the set up.

OK. That's done. Will post answer when I get it.

Try Highball Graphics. I didn't see one on their site, but they do a lot of NE railroads and might have something in work. Drop them a line and see. If anyone is going to do so, I probably will be these guys.

If you want to contact Brad Libby at Pen-Bay decals, email him at [e-mail]. He does the decals and artwork for all the custom cars for the Eastern Maine Model Railroad club.

You're welcome. BTW, whereabouts in Maine are you located? I'm about 5 miles from Albion and about 20 from Waterville.

Looks like Floquil Pine Green and Antique White/Buff would do the job for you nicely as far as paint....the decals should have the Harvest gold&red striping.

You could paint the shells now and wait for the decals....I would suggest painting the entire shell with Antique White/Buff first (use a oil enamel based paint) then use water based acrylic Floquil Pine Green after masking off the white. This will prevent color bleeding. (Oil and water don't mix)

San Diego area. I was stationed at Brunswick a couple of times. Used to watch the Maine Coast RS11 pull covered hoppers down to the Dragon plant in Rockland.
