Thommo, this Herpa bus looks exactly like the one I used to ride during my high school days in Washington State, back in 1973/1974. This type of bus has been around probably since the 1960´s and I guess it still is. Wikipedia will give you some more info - you can find the corresponding page <a target="_blank" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/School_bus">here</a>. One of the best known manufacturers of school buses is Thomas Built Buses, a division of Daimler Trucks of North America LLC.
