There is a group doing a model of Bellows Falls.  They have been at the show put on in the spring by the NWV Model RR Assn, at the fair grounds in Essex Jct, VT, the last couple of years.  Sorry, I can't remember the name of the group, but you might be able to contact the NWV group, they are listed under Model Railroad Groups (Vermont)  under RESOURCES above.  They might be able to get you in contact.

I was particularly interested as I used to live in the area as a child.  Later, after moving back to the area, I fought fires in one of the buildings that the railroad goes under.

My dream (at the moment) layout will have the flavor of Bellows Falls, in that it will have the B&M, CV and Rutland in attendance.  I am not going to try to model any particular buildings or scenes from the area.  The one thing I might do is a tunnel under part of town.

Did you know they had to lower the tracks in the tunnel so they could get the higher cars of today through?  A couple of years ago there was a photo in the local paper of an Amtrak loco coming out of the tunnel.  I wouldn't have wanted to be a bug on the wall, the loco appeared to fit, JUST BARELY!

Good luck,

Richard

The North Shore Model Railroad Club, in Wakefield MA  has a good Bellows Falls scene.  Their annual train show and open house is 12-13 October.  This is the club website.

My CRS is not helping, but I believe there have been a number of articles in the model press over the years on Bellows Falls and various structures and facilities there. Probably worth some quality time with the Magazine Search feature elsewhere here on the MR website.

About 20 years ago Model Railroader had a layout article on building the yard facilities of Steamtown.  I built and operated it in N Scale.  A very fine project.

The Bellows Falls model belongs to the Green Mountain Division of The N.M.R.A. It currently lives in Chittenden County. To see it in person is to be impressed with the quality of work these guys are doing.
