My wife says I need help

Well I ended up adding another addition to the layout again. Then I added an addition to the addition. It all started with a need for more storage. So I came up with a scheme. I had two storage tracks under the upper level but it wasn't very convenient to reach. So I pulled out the track and broke out the jig saw. I cut out a strip, built a 7 1/2 by 1 1/2 foot addition and installed it under the right side of the layout. But with the decline down I didn't think I was getting the best use out of the space, so I added an extension to the addition underneath. Here is a page in my album that shows the new addition. They are the last 6 pics. You can look through the album to see the growth. It is 4 1/2 inches below the 2X4 frame which with the height of the boards it gives me 8 inches of working room underneath the layout.

I'm also completely rewiring the entire layout which is proving to be quite the project. I also took a total length of the track I have and I was kind of suprised to find out how much there really was. I ended up with the following total. Keep in mind the layout covers only 8X9 ft.

Main level
10 ft mainline
3 ft siding
11 ft yard trackage
2 1/2 ft helper storage
Upper level
has a total of 8 ft from the switch on the main level.

From the swich on main level down to and including the new addition will total 23 ft.

Total roughly 57 1/2 feet. I never imagined there was that much track. I'm very happy with the out come so far and just wanted to share my progress. Let me know wht you think.

juby: Keep trucking!!! It's funny - some folks would consider tearing out and redoing, or improving things as moving backwards. I've always seen that as PROGRESS. Bet you're much happier with the result now!

Karlb: I've printed off your last post and given it to Dan Rather to send to your wife. STAND BY! I think your Athearn allowance is about to be cut. lol Seriously, I think all of us that have a spouse/girlfriend or other signficant other that at least tolerates this wacky obsession that we have are very very very lucky to say the least!! And no, she's not standing behind me lol.

My better half is my part-time parts painter. I just hand her the spray paint and she goes to it. She also keeps me from falling on my butt when I'm on the step-stool reaching for that derailed car on the far side of layout! Now if I can only convince her to let me have my debit card back...

Funny mine says "its never enough" I have added another loop to my layout leading off with a drop leaf. I need the bigger area because I model union pacific in Wyoming and have large radius curves. She also agreed to let me A/C and heat the garage so next years project is tieing into the system insulating the attic above and adding a vent. Now just to get her car out of there and wall up that 16 foot garage door and its mine all mine muhahahahahaha!!!!

up4018- had a 2-car garage in Miami Springs that my wife couldn't drive into. But in an emergency her truck could be backed in,under the 12x12 1/2 ft layout. Here in mid Fla. I had to make do with a wall mounted pike. No way she said would she not drive into the garage."Like it or leave", she warned . I'm still here.
