Trains on the Delaware Line (Improved, easier to understand version).
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, September 22, 2004 2:18 PM
I'm planning on running to run the following trains on my layout, I've listed (on most lines) two trains (divided by /), and the arriving and departing locations per line.

Locals
WPRT-1
WPRT-2
WPRT-3

Freights
RTAL/ALRT (Riverton, NJ to Allentown, PA and back)
RTCS/CSRT (Riverton, NJ to CSX/Baltmore, MD and back)
RTNS/NSRT (Riverton, NJ to NS/Atlanta and back)
RTHB/HBRT (Riverton, NJ to Harrisburg, PA and back)
RTPI/PIRT (Riverton, NJ to Pittsburgh, PA and back)
RTSE/SERT (Riverton, NJ to Selkirk, NY and back)

Multilevel
ML-413/ML-492 (Riverton, NJ to Detroit, MI and back)

Mail
Mail-11/Mail-12 (Delaware-Intermodal, NJ to Chicago, IL and back)

Trailvan
TV-27/TV-28 (Delaware-Intermodal, NJ to Chicago, IL and back)
TV-UP/TV-104 (Delaware-Intermodal, NJ to SP/UP/Oakland, CA and back)
TV-UPB/TV-104B (Delaware-Intermodal, NJ to North Bergen, NJ and back)
TV-SF/TV-106 (Delaware-Intermodal, NJ to ATSF/BNSF/Long Beach, CA and back)
TV-215/TV-216 (Delaware-Intermodal, NJ to NS/Atlanta, GA and back)

Runthrough
DH???/DH??? (undecided)

Steel
RTB-01/RTB-02 (Riverton, NJ to Burns Harbor, IL and back)
RMJ-1/RMJ-2 (Riverton, NJ to Mingo Jct, OH and back)

Amtrak
??/?? (undecided)

Notes: Multi Level trains are auto parts/racks, Trailvan and Mail trains are intermodals.

What do those letters and numbers mean? Hopefully the following section will explain!

Locals use a "W" (which stands for Wayfreight), a letter for a division (IE, H for Harrisburg), two letters for the yard it is based out of (IE, EN for Enola), and one or two numbers, the finial product in this example would be "WHEN-1)

Freight symbols are farely easy, the first two letters stand for the originating point (IE, AL in ALPI), the last two stand for the arriving point of the train (IE, PI in ALPI)

Multilevel trains use "ML," a dash, and a few numbers (IE ML101).

Mail trains are UPS trains, these use the word "Mail," a dash, and one or two letters (IE Mail-3).

Trailvan trains are non UPS intermodal trains, they use "TV," a dash, and one to three letters (IE TV-111).

Steel Trains use three letters for the locations they run two and from (IE PBH, P for Philladelphia, BH for Burns Harbor) and one or two numbers.
