<p>Good Afternoon Gang,</p> <p>it is icy cold here in Oberwiesenthal, but with a clear blue sky - the best weather for riding a steam train.</p> <p>Tomorrow, we shall be leaving the serenity of this place and head towards Berlin, bustling capital of Germany and with its 3.5 million inhabitants, by far the largest city in Germany, seconded only by Hamburg. We will stay a few days there and explore the city. We will take a look at the Reichstag and listen for a few moments to a parliamentary debate, walk through the famous Brandenburg Gate, visit Checkpoint Charlie and the remnants of the infamous Berlin Wall, tour the Museum für Technik (Technical Museum) with its large collection of railroad displays, climb on top of the television tower nicknamed Saint Walther´s (for Walther Ulbricht, former President of the GDR). There is a cross-like reflection on the tower, hence the nickname. We will also travel to Potsdam and visit Sanssouci Palace, the residence of Friedrich II., King of Prussia. Travel in Berlin will be made by the city´s excellent network of commuter trains (S-Bahn), subways, light rail and buses. </p> <p><img src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/06/2009-03-22_Reichstag_Nacht.JPG/800px-2009-03-22_Reichstag_Nacht.JPG" style="max-width: 550px;" border="0" /></p> <p><img src="http://www.mr-icke.de/fotos/Brandenburger_Tor1a.jpg" style="max-width: 550px;" border="0" /></p> <p><img src="http://htmlkurs.michaelmayer.de/2009.1027/p1/BilderBerlin/checkpoint_charlie.jpg" style="max-width: 550px;" border="0" /></p> <p><img src="http://www.stern-tours.de/docs/images/Image/berlin-incoming/sightseeing/31-fernsehturm-berlin-alex.jpg" style="max-width: 550px;" border="0" /></p> <p><img src="http://www.holidaycheck.at/data/urlaubsbilder/images/41/1156729628.jpg" style="max-width: 550px;" border="0" /></p> <p><img src="http://bahnsteigbilder.startbilder.de/1024/drei-et-481-s-bahn-berlin-58678.jpg" style="max-width: 550px;" border="0" /></p> <p><img src="http://www.ieee-icnp.org/2004/images/berlin/max/schloss-sanssouci_c_btm-koch_2679.jpg" style="max-width: 550px;" border="0" /></p> <p>Enjoy!</p> <p>Thayne - I am interest in your friend´s Z scale layout. I was given a nearly completed Z scale layout some month´s ago, but would like to take it down and use the material for something - anything, but I dearly need an inspiration. Could you get some photos of it?</p>
