Good Afternoon Gang!

My last day at the STALAG - no learning again, just a dry run for tomorrow´s oral exam. It´ll be a long day tomorrow. At 9.00 am, the written exam will start, scheduled for two hours (I bet I´ll be finished within 30 minutes) and then a long wait, until we will have the oral exam in the afternoon. I guess I won´t be home much before 6.00 pm.

Took my car into the garage today to get the tires changed. It was a special day for this, so I saved quite some $$ on the job. Bad news is, that the car needs new brake discs and brake bads. That´ll be $ 900 I simply don´t have. It´s about $ 700 for the material and "only" $ 200 for labor, so even if I did it myself, I would not save "much". But I don´t want to fool around with important things on a car like brakes. I will talk to my dad if he can "sponsor" the repair. How I hate having to do this!

Well, by this time, we have arrived at Rüdesheim. After a little rest, we will talk a walk through the town, just to find a nice wine restaurant. There are many, so it´ll be not an easy choice!

The hearty ones among us may enjoy a fair dose of German "Gemütlichkeit"

... which can be quite noisy! I prefer to have a quiet evening over a glass of nice Rhine wine, but no "Liebfraumilch" or "Blue Nun", please.

Tomorrow, we will continue our boat trip up the Rhine Valley, until we reach the city of Mannheim. Not really much to see there, so our boat will leave the Rhine and move into the Neckar river. We will go upstream for a few miles, until we reach Heidelberg. More on this tomorrow!

Ken - not so much work! It is pretty much the tour I took when my American host parents visited Germany. We did not visit any railroads, though.

Jeff - where on earth did you see that signh. Must have missed it, but it is well suited!

Edit: I just found it - it´s on the building in Barry´s picture!

Have a good one!
