I dont have the PFM system, MRC had a throttle with sound, self generated chuff. I was tinkering in sound early Pre-DCC with an onboard steam and diesel sound package. Not bad for the time. The MRC throttle acts as a tester now. If the mini system doesnt have its own power supply, try one of these cheapie power supplies maybe at Radio Shack or try United way, Target or other stors might. But to get chuff you may have to have a running engine supplied with a cam. Unless the system has its own onboard trigger to simulate chuff.

Thanks so much for your reply. Indeed, picking up an MRC throttle might be the best way to go.

Just to make sure, this is the kind of unit that you're talking about right?

I couldn't find any here in Japan, but there are a few available on ebay so I'll try my luck there.

Thanks again for your kind help!

Aye, I just came back from a small but wonderful train store in Burien, Washington called " ELECTRIC TRAIN SHOPE " the ownwers name is Scott and was very helpful to me. I own a early 70's H0 Big Bot bt Tenshodo... and took them up for him to see and while there he sold me the 2001 coutroller he had in stock...he also said he had one other. You might give him a call. Really nice fellow with a lot of real cool Engine inventory.
