Okay looking for specific help on this topic. I recently purchased the Proto 2000 E6A unit, which says its DCC ready, just plug in your decoder and go. But I can not for the life of me find the socket to plug in to. If anyone has had experince with this specific problem, could you please guide me in the right direction. This is the unit that is equipped with the flashing Mars light
Thanks
John

I'm not DCC, but if you don't get an answer here, try calling lifelike toll free, eastern time, 1-800-638-1470

you have to take the shell off to get at the plug. turn the engine over and pry out the shell. be careful some dont come off easily and can break the shell. once this is done you can see where the decoder plugs into. There are several kind of decoders to put in so get the one that will fit once the shell goes back on. there is a web site to go to but off hand I cant think of it. something like ttx.dcc.com hope this helps because im fairly new to dcc myself.

I have a P2000 E6. The decoder plug is at the back end of the wieght (opposite end of the lights). It is on the circuit card with all of the wires. You should see a little white "plug" that sticks up above the main circuit card. Mine was somewhat burried by all of the wires. I don't uss DCC yet. I remember seeing the "plug" before I put the body on the mechanism.
Hope this helped.

Hey Terry! Thank Yiu. There it is! Very difficult to tell thats actually the dummy plug for the socket sitting on it and not part of the Mars light circuitry. Got it working, except.....now the Mars light doesn't work. Jeepers. I unplugged the decoder, plugged the dummy plug back in and the Mars light worked. So back to the drawing board, as they say.
Thanks to all who took time to reply.
