Afternoon all

Well, have completed my last day of uni before easter break - I now have 3 weeks off! Think I'll start on the unfinished backscene tomorrow - I'm aiming for a sky blue on the whole thing (this is the best my minimal artistic skills can achieve!) which looked fairly effective on the board I painted a while ago. The loco rebuilds have also finished, here's the second one to come back from the spares box:

It's one of the Fleischmann N scale rack-equipped locos. If you run them on the rack-fitted track they also offer it'll handle a 30degree gradient - have been considering a small (horizontally, very tall vertically) mountain layout for it, would basically be a scenic helix with a station at either end. It does make a great little yard switcher though - 6 wheel pickup, very low gearing, bodyshell is literally full of ballast weights.

Ryan, thanks for the kind words about the photo - currently keeping eyes open for more matching cars! The two I have seem to be sleepers of some sort judging by the interior mouldings and window pattern, I know where I can get hold of a baggage car to go with them (assuming the store still has it) but need to talk my parents into going to Cardiff for the day!

CatTom, BLI are doing a sound-equipped stock car? I know LGB have offered similar things in G scale. Wonder whether you'll be able to configure it for different livestock? could be set up so F1 = cows, F2 = sheep, etc!

Weather here is grey and somewhat warm - yesterday seemed very humid outdoors though inside it's cool and dry as always (they knew how to build houses back in 1905 - 2ft airspace under the downstairs floorboards and 8ft high ceilings, so even in midsummer it's a sensible temperature in here!).

Well, currently awaiting return of mum and brother from school (she teaches, he's in his last year). Have to take her car out to the garage this evening for servicing - interesting arrangement as we'll be dropping it off outside the garage and posting the keys through the letterbox! Gives a hint of what life's like out here I guess , that the garage can happily let people do that and not worry about break-ins.

Bye for now
