You would think an aerospace R&D lab would be bleeding-edge, but apparently that doesn’t apply to their ‘business’ software – non-engineering DBA’s like myself are the Rodney Dangerfields of the funding food chain. But I have found that, if I can somehow make a manager believe a new approach was his/her idea (not mine), I get better cooperation.
