Help for Power Supply & DCC

Hi,

Query is for HO-Scale layout.

Being a starter, I am assembling things for my layout. Consider me a novice to the hobby.

I am looking for good power supply for my layout. Here are my concerns and observation.

· MRC is the one in affordable range. Tech 4 350 I am planning for.
· What parameter/rating decides that how much strength it has and how many engines it can run. (I think its Amp.)
· If I buy a power supply now, will I be able to use it in future ?, when I upgrade to DCC, as I plan to.
· If booster in DCC are basically additional power supplies in the layout ?, is so, then it can be used later.

Please give your advice and opinion in this regard. Also If any body has any observations about Tech 4 350, please do tell me.

Suggest me if you know any other power supply source better and in $75 range.

That all depends on the size of your layout and the number of units you want to run at one time. My suggestion is start with a good power supply. Yes you can use it to power a DCC unit but MRC recommends something with alittle more power to run DCC.

In general price equates to quality when it comes to powerpacks. The low end packs offer less control, high starting voltage and fewer features. Go with the best one you can afford.

As for DCC... various mfgs. of DCC equiptment have differnt requirements for their units. Go with what they reccomend.....Vic
