Happy Friday, all! I'm in Spokane, WA, tonight, waiting for the after-midnight eastbound Empire Builder (I usually just drive down to Everett and catch the train there, but there were no seats from Everett when we finally got around to booking tickets!) Something of a tradition - when I'm in the country that is - for the MLK weekend: those of us in the Puget Sound area hop on the train there, my dad and whoever else he can round up in Spokane hop on the train there, and when we wake up we are in Whitefish, MT for 2 days of skiing. Sunday night the westbound train takes us back!

Greg and Tom - yep, Fallon is a much different climate from the Sound! But I grew up on the Eastern side of Washington, which (at least to me) has more in common with Northern Nevada's climate than Seattles. I've visited there several times over the last few years, and believe it or not it's not the summer heat or winter cold that bothers me much, it's the dryness and the altitude (about 4,000 feet) that I find I have to acclimate to.

***- good idea on the notebook. Between this board and my 15 year (or so) collection of MR back issues, I've got a wealth of great ideas at hand but now I need to figure out a good way to be able to find that "one" idea I need when I need it!!
