Hi Chuck,
I don't think John Pryke needs any help from either of us! Although I haven't seen this new book yet, I am familiar with John's work (through his many articles), and he knows what he's doing. Of course, some of the newer articles in MR (which is where I'm assuming most of the chapters came from) on painting, weathering and superdetailing steam are a bit basic... (and I frankly didn't care for the last steam weathering article as all: the weathering was too cartoon-like)

I bought the book a few months back and have since resold it on Ebay. It's a good book for people considering their first steam kit-bash or super detail job. It also has a re-print of an MR article from the mid to later 90s about scratch building a NYC ten wheeler from brass. There is information on the various equipment on steamers and I though the book well done and high quality. It was stuff I already understood so I passed it on to someone whom might put it to better use.
