Folks,

I feel the need to address this, today being the 11th of November.

Being a German, I feel very touched by all the greetings to the service people and the memories for all of those, who gave their lives in the fight for freedom. Without their sacrifice, the world would be a different one today, but not for the better.

In both wars, Germany accounted for about 12 million casualties, both military and civilian, a number which terrifies me. My family was extremely lucky to survive both wars without a major loss of life. Hardly any family did not have to mourn the death of a beloved one, and many a family was eradicated completely.

We do not have a public holiday to commemorate those who gave their lives in two unjust wars, so I would like to invite you for a silent prayer for all people, who died in the course of these wars, be it friend or foe.

Thank you!
