Good Morning,

I am running a little late today. I finally found some sleep at 4.30 am this morning. I am also getting a litte weary of not being able to sleep at night [sigh]

We are back to our normal fall (foul) weather, with overcast skies and plenty of that wet stuff coming down - yucch!

Janie, make that a bucket of coffee for me please, and some buttered toast with jam to go with it. Thanks, dear.

I followed last night´s discussion with a chuckle. Within a few hours of driving from my hometown, I could move from Danish to German, Polish, Dutch and French - sorry, no English, Spanish or Italian - that takes a little longer. Speaking at least one foreign language is an absolute necessity in this region.

Nevertheless, I agree, that one should be able to speak in the tongue of the country one is living in. And, unless there is a history of having more than one language - like in Canada, Belgium, Italy and Switzerland, a nation should only have one "official" language. Having a common language is the bond which unites a group of people to form a nation.

As Germany has turned more and more into a melting pot, we are starting to have language issues here as well. More than 20 % of our population has a non-German background, out of which the Turkish form the largest group. In Berlin, Hamburg and some other bigger cities, you will find quarters, where you hardly hear a word of German spoken. When Petra was still into teaching, she had classes with 10 or more different nationalities, Germans being the minority. How to teach someone, who does not understand your language?

No, Janie, you don´t have to bring the soap box, this is not meat to be either a rant or a political statement, just facts.

Nothing specific planned for the day - just the usual grocery run to replenish or food stocks, a short HD least. I probably will do some day dreaming about layouts I might be able to build, once our situation improves.

Y´all have a good one!
