Aging stripwood

I need to have gray(old)looking stripwood for a project.What is the best way without distorting the timber.Also what is the best glue,items to be joined are small(4x2 etc in HO scale).

I've used black India ink, just a drop or two in say an ounce of alcohol then put on as a wash. You can use several coats to get it where you want.
ANd several glues will work, yellow carpenter's glue, Duco cement or even ACC. I've talked to guys who have used "Gorilla Glue" which is some kind of urethane? Supposedly grat strength, waterproof and better shear resistance to shear than ACC. I just haven't gone out and bought any yet, so can't comment personally!
