It is very sad to see all the many negative effects that mergers have on railroads. The Conrail split up was not a good thing for the Q. I personally would have like to see a midwestern or western railroad have acquired Conrail so that the majority of Conrail would have remained intact. That is being said from a railfanning point of view. From a modeling standpoint I really don't know how the merger has affected those who model Conrail, CSX , or Nazi Southern ( as Dougal calls it [}:)] ) That poses a good question for a topic. [;)]
