Bachmann 4-8-4 Niagara

Is there anyone that owns Bachmann's 4-8-4 NYC Niagara? Is it worth the $60? Does it run smooth? Is it loud? Is it a good locomotive in general? I have been thinking about purchasing this loco from TrainWorld, but want some information first.

Don't do it!
I thought like that too when I got mine. They are incapable of low speed operation. Their worm-gear/flywheel system doesn't work. She maxed out at 34 free-rolling cars through 24" radius. But when lubed and broken in, it will run quiet. Quiet, but not smooth. It bounces and limps down the rails. The mechanism isn't up to todays design standards. Eventually the axels will crack. [V] I keep mine around cause I made it look good. Not a real runner. Put that $70 towards somthing of higher quality.

I hope you mean the FEF-3 or H-8 from Rivarossi. Everything else from them will be problematic.
