Code 70 vs Code 83

If I understand you correctly, code 70 rail is prototypical to the rails which were standard until recently and code 83 is prototypical to conventional rails being used nowadays? <br />That seems to make more sense to me. <br />Therefore, my code 70 rail is prototypical to railroads modeling "The Good Old Days..."
