N-gauge roundhouse
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, June 12, 2004 2:11 PM
Hi All----I am thinking of installing an N- gauge turntable PECO( 5&5/8ths).
Can anyone advise me what rounhouse Manufacture/Model would be
compatable. I tried Walters # 933-3202 and the radius did not quite match
the requirements. I also tried Walthers turntable #933-3203, (big mistake).

If someone can help, thanks in advance. Jim

I don't know anything about the Peco turntable but I'll tell you about the Atlas roundhouse/turntable combo as I have both. The roundhouse has three stalls spread at 15 degrees to match the automatic stopping points of the turntable,so you'll need this feature or a turntable that's fully manual, which can be stopped at any degree. The Atlas turntable is 8 1/2 in. in dia. so you'd have to cut your roundhouse tracks a little longer to meet your 5 5/8 in. turntable, which isn't a problem. The roundhouse itself is 9 3/8 deep but will require a 60 degrees portion of a 14 1/2 in. radius circle on your layout and an extra 4 1/4 in. around the center to accomodate the turntable,2 9/16 in. in the case of the Peco table. That takes a pretty good bite of your layout area.Hope this helps.

Jacktal Thanks. Inever considered the Atlas rountable. It does not fit my
usual attempt to follow prototype installations.

Thanks anyway

Perhaps the Atlas website would let you download their turntable & roundhouse from their Right Track Software site.
I'd use flextrack between the turntable & the roundhouse, being careful to lay the base of the roundhouse before cutting any track. You may still need to modify the Atlas roundhouse.
