For five points, name that movie. Seriously folks I did something pretty dumb, so stupid that I am almost embarrassed to tell you but if I can help prevent anyone else being this stupid maybe my action will have a slightly positive consequence.

I use the styrene in the gaps of my track routine, super gluing it, then filing the styrene to contour of the track - in N scale. I got into a habit of puting the styrene in the gaps, with one hand and using my teeth to open the top of the super glue tube, then apply the glue with the other hand. I know you can guess what is coming. Yup, I opened the tube with my teeth, the top came right off, the entire application tube - not just the cap - and super glue was all over the insides of my mouth.

If I hadn't even thought about this scenario it would have been so easy to glue my teeth to one another, my tongue to the roof of my mouth, or my lips together. The instant in happened I opened my mouth and centered my tongue so it wouldn't touch anything. But the glue was all over my teeth, my tongue, my lips, my fingers, everywhere. It was pretty rough getting it out of my mouth, fortunately it came easily off of my tongue but much more difficult from my teeth.

So learn from my bad, never use your teeth to open the super glue cap from the tube.

My bad, my bad....my.... bad!!!

So what your telling us is.......

Not to bite off more than we can chew![(-D]

Sorry I couldn't resist. I too have had a bad incident with CA. though I was wearing glasses I flicked a drop into my eye which resulted in a trip to the hospital and an eye patch. CA burns when coming into contact with water (exothermic reaction). Don't feel too bad as we have all been candidates for a Darwin Award at one time or another.

Rick,
I'm glad you're Ok. That can't have been any fun at all. Fergi is right. We've all done truly dumb stuff. I use a radial arm saw a good bit on various projects and have caught myself more than once getting stupid around it. Familiarity may not breed contempt but it does make us too casual about things that can get real dangerous. I have gotten under the layout to solder feeder wires wearing shorts - but only once.

Take Care,

Tom,
You're in good company, I think Tony Koester also did that.

I have another one, well .... I won't tell you how I learned this one....

Don't wear sandals when working with hobby knives.

I haven't done that in sandals, but I have done it barefoot. Gravity is not always our friend. Ah, lessons learned.

Now I dont feel so bad, I've done similar stuff.
Here's one "hair raising" story. [D)]
Picture this. An old bottle of Zap has done what most of them do, it's hardend in the applicator tip. I'm sitting at my work bench , fighting to get it working again with a small pick , and AHA! I got it working.[:D] Not realizing that not only is the tip flowing, but it's running down the length of 2 fingers.[D)]
Just then, my big red tomcat decides its cuddle time, and plops into my lap. I gently held him a moment, then tried to put him down. Then I realized, I'm stuck to the kitty.[:0] Thank goodness for a small pair of moustache scissors on the bench and a free hand, and I was able to cut kitty free in no time with minimal damage.[;)] Then its off to find Sweeties nail polish remover so that I can rid myself of my Sasquatch looking fingers.[*^_^*] Finally I make it back to the bench, only to find the Zap has re-hardend in the applicator again![banghead]

It didn't result in bodily harm, but this evening I stepped on my airbrush (don't even ask). Oh well, I was going to upgrade anyway . . .

I'll take the five points, because, in addition to liking trains, we are all big Harry Potter fans at my house. That line is right out of the second movie, when Crabbe and Goyle eat the tainted cupcakes and pass out.

As for your gluing adventure, I have only two things to say. One, DON'T DO THAT! And two, that had to hurt!

It's too bad we're mere muggles, because a quick flick of the wand and a simple SCOURGIFY spell would have fixed your problem.[swg]
